Gros Morne National Park is one of the largest and most impressive protected areas in eastern Canada. It has been a prize destination of travellers from around the world for almost 40 years. Uniquely situated where ancient tectonic plates once collided, the ancient history of this area has produced the varied, rugged landscape, typified by towering cliffs, tranquil fjords and coves, sandy beaches, teaming wetlands, and lush forests.

The special geological features of Gros Morne National Park resulted in the destination of World Heritage Site by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) in 1987.
